Compliance status

Howaryu aims for level AA of the RGAA 4.1 (the French accessibility standard, based on WCAG). The site has not yet been fully audited against its 106 criteria: it is therefore declared non-compliant, as the RGAA requires when no audit has been carried out.

Howaryu is a personal website, not subject to the legal accessibility obligation: this statement is voluntary.

Tests carried out

  • Automated axe-core tests (WCAG 2 level A and AA rules) on the home page in light and dark themes, the posting form, a single post, search, error pages, legal pages, the English version and the administration: no errors found.
  • Text contrast checked by these tests in both themes, on every post colour displayed.
  • Keyboard navigation of interactive components: Sound, Listen to the wall and Live buttons, language menu, hearts, colour filter, posting form, "More joy" button, "Freeze" button, link copy, delete confirmation in the administration.
  • Screen reader announcements (live regions) checked programmatically.
  • The "reduce motion" preference is respected, and a "Freeze" button stops the posts from floating.
  • Sound is off by default and never remembered; no information is conveyed by sound alone.
  • New live posts are announced to screen readers; live mode can be turned off.

Tests not carried out and known limitations

  • Manual criterion-by-criterion audit.
  • Tests with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
  • Text resized to 200% and high contrast modes.
  • The handwriting styles chosen by authors, especially the handwritten ones, may be less legible than the interface font.
  • Good news posted by visitors is not reviewed for accessibility.
  • Without JavaScript, posting and sending hearts are not possible.

Preparation of this statement

Statement prepared on 29 September 2026. Technologies used: HTML, CSS, SVG, JavaScript. Tests carried out with the Chromium browser (Playwright) and the axe-core tool.
